About me

Picture
Benjamin Dotson - Founder

With 12 years experience in teaching science, Ben has found a calling in the global education field at Lincoln High in Tacoma, WA. After a few short years of teaching, he saw the necessity of introducing global competencies to his low-income and richly diverse school. He began developing short (1-2 week) international trips that changed the lives of his students.  He developed, organized and led trips, taking students to Canada, Europe, China, and Central America. As the International Programs Coordinator for his building, he assists short term and year-long exchange students with scheduling, orientation, and conflict resolution. His programs emphasize and promote cultural understanding, academic excellence, language immersion, travel, and social enrichment.

In 2017 he was named "Spotlight Teacher" for Teacher and Travel Magazine and was selected to participate in the "Teachers for Global Classrooms" fellowship sponsored by the US State Department and IREX, a non-profit organization dedicated to developing global leaders and extending access to training and education to help people reach their full potential.

In 2018, he was selected to receive the 2018 Visionary Award from the Student and Youth Travel Association, an award to recognize teachers or community members who see travel as a means to an end, as a way to achieve a greater goal in life for oneself and others.
