The World Affairs Council advances global understanding and engagement throughout the Puget Sound region. The Council’s programs are powerful tools for building an engaged, inspired, and connected global citizenry in greater Seattle. The Council truly brings the world to Seattle and helps inform local debates about global issues.
Global Washington supports the global development community in Washington state that is working to create a healthier and more equitable world. We promote our members, bring them together to spark new ideas and partnerships, and build a network of leaders improving lives around the world.
Seattle/Tacoma Area Universities and Colleges
The Mission of the Wang Center for Global Education:
- Support and strengthen the university’s internationally-focused academic programs.
- Coordinate and advance the university’s study away offerings, expanding student opportunities and participation.
- Offer public education including symposia and publications.
- Promote and leverage the university’s global and intercultural distinctions through partnerships, community outreach, consortia, and grant activities.
- Grow into a dynamic research institute bringing faculty and students together for the exploration of global issues and peacemaking.

Widely regarded as a national leader in global ed development, and the creators of the four domains of global competency, the Asia Society offers a wide selection of professional development opportunities. The Asia Society offers courses, books and certifications to help educators improve their teaching practices.
The Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development is a leader in teacher leader development, and offers a widely varied selection of professional development materials for various topics, including global ed.
Global Kids develops youth leaders through dynamic global education and leadership development programs. Global Kids inspires youth from underserved communities to achieve academic excellence, self-actualization and global competency, and empowers them to take action on critical issues facing their communities and our world.
World Savvy is a national education nonprofit that works with educators, schools, and districts to integrate the highest quality of global competence teaching and learning into K-12 classrooms, so all young people can be prepared to engage, succeed, and meet the challenges of 21st century citizenship
